The persecution of scientologists by a government entity.......is it proof they are the true religion?
No?
Then why is similar persecution of JWs proof it IS the true religion?
russian church welcomes shutdown of "moscow church of scientology".
moscow, july 1, interfax - the russian orthodox church has welcomed a ruling by the russian supreme court which yesterday upheld the legality of a shutdown of the "church of scientology of moscow".
"the upholding by the supreme court of the legality of the shutdown of the so-called church of scientology is seen as an important precedent demonstrating the state's determination not to recognize as religious those organizations that use people's religious feeling for malign purposes, " russian orthodox church spokesman vakhtang kipshidze told interfax-religion.the ruling in the scientologists' case is not a breach of the religious freedom since "it was proved in court that the very activity of this organization is an affront to human freedom as such," kipshidze said.the russian orthodox church regularly comes into contact with people whose membership in totalitarian sects left them deeply wounded spiritually and mentally, ruined their lives and happiness, the spokesman said.

i have been a baptized witness for about 30 years.
from the time i was a kid.
i've been the only one in my family who is baptized until 15 years later when my mother got baptized.
In answer to your question, if you reveal you married someone disfellowshipped I would bet dollars to donuts you would be disfellowshipped.
So why do you want to talk to the elders about this? Especailly in light of all you have learned?
i came across this weird blog that castigates fading jws for their "cowardice" and "hypocrisy" for not making themselves vulnerable to shunning.
apparently in the view of this blogger jws who discover it's not the truth are morally obliged to play by the watchtower rules and face the consequences of shunning.. http://jwresearchblog.blogspot.co.uk/2015/06/fading-faking-and-lying-as-unbelieving.html#comment-form.
what is absent from the blog post is any discussion of the statement in the july 2009 awake!, that no one should be made to choose between their beliefs and their family.
Thats what I was looking for. Lol.
not me surprisingly.
i thought i would be the one to go first.
this coming week my hubby is being announced as no longer being a jw.
Congrats to you both. Sometimes I hear these stories and I wonder if they could have gone better, not broken up the extended family......but everyone has their own journey. You have to protect your own family first. I am sure his parents think the same thing.
Now you can get on with the business of living!
i haven't been on here much, but every so often i try and keep up with the discussions.
i'm sure this topic has been talked about before, so my apologies in advance if i'm repeating.. a little about me.... i'm a non baptized jw married to a devout jw.
both my husband and i were raised in the organization.
Ugh. This is hard to even read. Is it possible to have a discussion about specifics? It probably can't hurt at this point.
Honestly, you are probably right to be gearing up for a fight. I would hope for the best and try to be loving, but be planning in the background. Not letting the kiddies get baptized as minors is key. Making sure you influence them and they understand and know your love in unconditional is important even moreso now.
You certainly are not alone. When it isn't so tense, see if your hubs will talk to you about specifics. Everyone has a brick that falls first. Its just rarely what you think it is or should be.
this is great.
i'd love to see this at brighton in a couple of weeks.... "i'm of the kevinly class" or "praise kevin" would be a great way of letting any activist know there are those awake that know what they are doing.

She really did a great job. this is the kind of activism that actually has some affect. Its funny, light, and doesn't fall into the fire breathing apostate narrative.

^^^I love these anecdotal stories one automatically believes as 100% true. Its just hilarious.
Sharks with lasers on their heads even!?
hello everyone, it's been quite a while since i was last on this forum.
originally i was under a different user name, but lost all that information when i moved to a different state.
anyways, i had left the jws back in 2001, after being raised up in it most of my childhood life.
May i respectfully ask......have you had an adult conversation with your family about this? Why are they so willing to accomodate such bad behavior. It kind of spits at the whole point of "family reunion" no?
it appears there is about a million voting age jws in the us right now.
it appears there is 8 million ex jws or in the shadows.. if those 8 million would have the guts to come out for a presidential candidate to come out, we can finally end the slavery, tyranny and corruption in this and many other circles.. cowards die many times but a hero only dies once.
and cowards die in revelation.. so, to you reading this, are you a coward or a true steward of the earth and creation?.
Yikes!
Well I almost made it through, but please consider your math.....its off. there are not 8 million ex JW's alive and certainly not within voting age. Even if there were lets say 500K, they would be spread all over the world, have varying degrees of sympathy for the org or the ability to do what you suggest, and be of varying ages.
But way to think big. Maybe instead of that, just make a thoughtful sign, and go to the regional convention nearby and smile and hand out JW facts tracts.
...hope to enjoy everlasting life and witness the resurrection, things unseen by the world.
like the philosophers of paul’s day who called him an ignorant “chatterer,” most people today think that the hope we preach is sheer nonsense.
(acts 17:18) .
Was Kevin ever on the writing committee? Because this is CLASSIC Kevin.
